Much of the news coverage of the resurgence of the measles virus has been around the pro-vaccination vs anti-vaccination argument. Some say that the growing popularity of shying away from vaccines has made the disease resurface while others disagree. In reality, this is a distraction. Everyone should focus their attention on the elephant in the room, which is the border crisis.
Every day, thousands of people attempt to enter the country illegally. They originate from nearly every country on planet Earth. Some have top-rate healthcare and access to vaccinations, while others don’t. Many of them are very sick with highly infectious diseases that are not prevalent in the United States like chagas and measles. Not surprisingly, these very diseases are making a comeback in the US during this time of insecurity at the southern border.
