Brazil orders Nestlé to label GM products

Brazil's court had to over turn their governments decision to endorse non labeling.
This same predicament is going on now in the US. They do not want us to know if the food we're buying is frankenfood.
The big food ccorporations like Nestle along with Monsanto, are paying millions and millions of dollars to lobbyists to try and defeat California's propostion on the right to mandatory labeling.
We ALL have a right to know what's the food we buy as well as the choice to not buy it.

A court in Brazil has ordered Nestlé to impose mandatory labelling for all its products in the country highlighting more than 1% genetically modified (GM) ingredients.

Three people enter into civil union in Brazil

Perhaps this could work out to our advantage, and our own problem with under the table polygamy would migrate there in order to be seen as a legalized union and no longer have to hide.

Claudia do Nascimento Domingues, a public notary, granted the wishes of the man and two women, saying there is nothing in law that prevents such an arrangement.

The trio have lived together in Rio de Janeiro for three years, and have a joint bank account, sharing bills and expenses. The union was made formally three months ago, according to Globo TV, but only became public this week.

“We are only recognising what has always existed. We are not inventing anything,” said Ms Domingues.

“For better or worse, it doesn’t matter, but what we considered a family before isn’t necessarily what we would consider a family today.”

The decision has sparked criticism in the country however.

Brazil to your bank: How derivatives circle globe

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Brazil-to-your-bank-How-apf-2418761829.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=6&asset=&ccode=

Derivatives enable your life to be effected by being nothing more than a side bet.

Assmann is perpetually worried he will run short of cash if prices for his crops fall. So he tries to pay for some of his supplies at the start of the growing season with a fixed amount of soybeans that will be collected at the end.

His suppliers don't want to take on the risk of falling prices, either. But last month Philadelphia chemical maker FMC Corp. agreed to send Assmann all the insecticides and herbicides he needs in exchange for a third of his expected harvest.

Making the barter possible: A separate derivative that FMC, without Assmann's knowledge, got a bank to design. That side bet is designed to make sure FMC won't lose a penny if soybean prices fall.

"They seem very complicated," Assmann, 39, said when told about the derivative. "A poultry company here lost a lot of money in derivatives. I don't fully understand them."

Neither do most people, even though trade in many things we buy every day would slow or even stop without them.

Derivatives are private bets between two parties on how the value of assets like crops or measures like interest rates will change in the future. Most aren't traded on exchanges, and they're hard to value.

There's a derivative for nearly everything. You can bet that the Standard & Poor's 500 index will be higher in a year or the dollar will fall in value. You can bet that people of a certain age will die off faster than expected. A few creative financiers once devised a derivative that allowed you to bet on the value of future royalties from old David Bowie songs. Others came up with one to bet on how many basketball games the Utah Jazz would win in a year. And, yes, you can bet on soybeans in all their varieties -- crushed or ground, solid or oil, normal-sized or miniature.

For all the positives that investors see in derivatives, the investments can also be dangerous. Dubbed "financial weapons of mass destruction" by billionaire Warren Buffett, derivatives have been behind nearly every recent financial blowup from the bankruptcy of Orange County, Calif., in 1994 to the collapse of the housing market.

Ukraine virus

http://www.recombinomics.com/News/11090902/Ukraine_1918.html

Ask yourself why people, that the WHO (world health organization) and the media are telling you NOTHING about the massive virus outbreak in the Ukraine?
It's live and it's spreading because it highly communicable.

The explosion of cases in Ukraine, and delays in the release of sequences from fatal cases in Ukraine is a cause for increasing concern. Recent accelerations of deaths have been widespread across the northern hemisphere, raising concerns that receptor binding domain changes described above, as well as a third polymorphism at position 225, D225E, (see list) are gaining traction as the swine H1N1 adapts to human hosts.
