The 4099 men and women that the DOD counts as war dead in theater as opposed to out of theater. In theater makes it sound like you died of boredom from a dull movie.
Out of theater means you didn't die in Iraq, you were scraped up and transported
out of Iraq and made it to another country before you died. So you didn't die on the battle field and aren't counted in the official total.
The tool bar at the top will definitely give you a reality check on the Iraq war, and if your still feeling daring after wading through this information, then by all means proceed on to Afghanistan.
