The UN was put together to able to monitor over world situations, so that a single countries actions could not get out of hand as Germany's did producing the start of WWII by the slaughtering of the innocents.
It has become quite obvious that this body of world government holds no power or sway what so ever.
The slaughter of the people of Iraq and Palestine, as well as South Ossetia, are testimony to this fact.
The UN voted down the invasion of Iraq and it was done anyway, with massive loss of life to the Iraqi people in the United States quest to put down Al qaeda.
The UN is supposed to be the meeting place to discuss civilly the problems of separate countries in disagreement, and yet when Russia called for a meeting for the need on their actions as peacekeepers for the people of South Ossetia after Georgia's
uncontrolled aggression fully funded by the United States, they were denied.
The entire world was lead to believe that Russia was the aggressor over Georgia, rather than the protector of the small and meek people of South Ossetia.
And now Israel has deemed it necessary to slaughter without conviction all who would live in the Gaza strip. The UN has called for a cease fire statement, that the United States has seen fit to block because it does not lay blame, but rather seeks an end to the untold numbers of death that is occurring for all of the Palestinian people by the invasion of Israel unto their land.
It would seem it is either time to disband the UN because all countries contribute
monetarily to their upkeep and it has become an obvious waste of money, or to give it back the power that it was intentionally given to govern world situations, and to put the aggressions and undaunted opinions of the United States back in their place.
The world opinion does not revolve around only what the United States says it should, and why should it. The United States has become known of late as to taking rash actions and forming incorrect convictions by using the powers of hearsay only and thinking they are justified in doing so. When the casualty count comes in from their actions they seem to think the world should accept their excuse of "Oh well shit happens" just because they are the United States.
Well I'm a citizen of the United States and I don't accept their excuse.
IN AN extraordinary outburst, the president of the United Nations General Assembly has branded Israel's ground offensive in Gaza a "monstrosity" and a marked failure for the UN.
Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann, of Nicaragua, blasted the Israeli action on Saturday as the UN Security Council convened its third Gaza emergency session.
"I think it's a monstrosity; there's no other way to name it," Mr Brockmann said. "Once again, the world is watching in dismay the dysfunctionality of the Security Council."
