NFL losing credibility with each blown call by replacement refs
Hail Mary. Holy hell.
On the final play of the final game of one of the most shameful weekends in NFL history, a last-gasp pass from the Seattle Seahawks fell from the sky into the arms of the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
Touchdown, Seattle. Chaos, NFL.
Three weeks of gross incompetence by unqualified replacement officials crystallized in two moments Monday night that pushed the league's integrity to the brink.
France set to ban the words 'mother' and 'father' from official documents
France is set to ban the words "mother" and "father" from all official documents under controversial plans to legalise gay marriage.
The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word "parents" would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.
The draft law states that "marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender".
It says all references to "mothers and fathers" in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply "parents".
The law would also give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.

'Two-faced' politicians have opened the door to an EU superstate by giving up on democracy, Václav Klaus, the veteran Czech statesman, tells Bruno Waterfield.
The new push for a European Union federation, complete with its own head of state and army, is the "final phase" of the destruction of democracy and the nation state, the president of the Czech Republic has warned.
In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Václav Klaus warns that "two-faced" politicians, including the Conservatives, have opened the door to an EU superstate by giving up on democracy, in a flight from accountability and responsibility to their voters.
"We need to think about how to restore our statehood and our sovereignty. That is impossible in a federation. The EU should move in an opposite direction," he said.

Catholics call for Israeli hate-crime crackdown
A spate of hate crimes against Christian places of worship in Israel has prompted usually reticent Roman Catholic officials to speak out, hoping that intervention by authorities might bring an end to the vandalism.
In the early hours of September 4, vandals set fire to the door of a renowned Trappist monastery in Latrun (outside Jerusalem) and defaced it with anti-Christian graffiti, stating “Jesus is a monkey”.
In the two weeks which have elapsed since the act of desecration, no arrests have been made, despite police vows that the culprits would be brought to justice. Similar incidences of vandalism also occurred in the months preceding this attack.
The Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, one of the church's top officials in the Holy Land, expressed deep concern over the state of relations between Jews and Christians.

German Catholics to be denied Communion under church tax rule
If you can't pay, you are no longer entitled to any of the traditions once offered for the love of God alone.
Has the horror of greed, actually penetrated the Roman Catholic church in Germany?
It would certainly seem so. What was once a given in the practice of the Roman Catholic faith, is now seen as an expensive add on, so much so, that if you find yourself in the situation of being unable to tithe you are no longer welcome to participate in that which once would afford you, the comfort of your faith.
It's a good thing Jesus was resurrected, for the announcement of this would surely have him rolling over in his grave

Germany's Roman Catholics who refuse to pay a church tax are to be denied the right to Holy Communion or become a godparent.
In a move decried by a progressive Catholic group, the German bishops' conference last week issued a decree, saying it was "worried" about the Catholic Church's dwindling numbers and wanted to stem the drop.
Confession, the Eucharist, confirmation in the Church or anointing of the sick – unless the patient's life is in danger – are now out of bounds for anyone who leaves the Church, the decree, which took effect Monday, stated.
Becoming a godparent is also off limits, it said.
Germany has had a system in place since the 19th century asking residents to either officially declare their religion and pay a church tax, or to be classed as "non-religious".
The levy amounts to between eight and 10 per cent of income tax, depending on where the person lives.
Gospel of Jesus's Wife is fake, claims expert
One certainly would have thought that the experts would have at least attempted to check for validity before they exposed the world to what maybe an attempt at rearranging the early base theory, of the life of Jesus Christ.
One certainly would have thought that the experts would have at least attempted to check for validity before they exposed the world to what maybe an attempt at rearranging the early base theory, of the life of Jesus Christ.
A New Testament scholar claims to have found evidence suggesting that the Gospel of Jesus's Wife is a modern forgery.
Professor Francis Watson, of Durham University, says the papyrus fragment, which caused a worldwide sensation when it appeared earlier this week because it appeared to refer to Jesus's wife, is a patchwork of texts from the genuine Coptic-language Gospel of Thomas, which have been copied and reassembled out of order to make a suggestive new whole.
In a paper published online, Watson argues that all of the sentence fragments found on the papyrus fragment have been copied, sometimes with small alterations, from printed editions of the Gospel of Thomas.
The discovery has already sparked fierce debate among academics, but Watson believes his new research may prove conclusive.
"I think it is more or less indisputable that I have shown how the thing was composed," he said. "I would be very surprised if it were not a modern forgery, although it is possible that it was composed in this way in the fourth century."
His paper claims the work was assembled by someone who

Jury Convicts Amish Group of Hate Crimes
OK I officially hate the new blogger interface!
I can't get this bitch right to save my soul. So bear with me for a few days kids.
In the mean time, check this out
If the appeal fails, where on earth are they going to put these people? Prison sounds a little to much like cruel and unusual punishment to me. The Amish aren't versed in the worldly way. Putting one of them in prison is a kin to cutting them and throwing them into a tank filled with bull sharks.
They don't stand a chance of survival.
America, you cannot let this happen. The horror that it implies is to great to inflict upon anyone.

Samuel Mullet Sr., the domineering leader of a renegade Amish sect, and 15 followers were convicted of federal conspiracy and hate crimes Thursday for orchestrating a series of bizarre beard- and hair-cutting attacks last fall that spread fear through the Amish of eastern Ohio.
The convictions of Mr. Mullet and his followers and family members who carried out the assaults could bring lengthy prison terms. The jury’s verdict vindicated federal prosecutors, who made a risky decision to apply a 2009 federal hate-crimes law to the sect’s violent efforts to humiliate Amish rivals.Mr. Mullet, 66, founder of a community near Bergholz, Ohio, and 15 followers, including six women, were tried for

Russia expels USAID development agency

Good for you Mr. P.
What most people don't realize is that the state of the world is being played out on a 5 dimensionally tiered chessboard, with the United States government hell bent on helping out those that they insist
don't understand the game.
The US does it under the guise of AID, which one would think, and is led to believe, would consist of food and medicine. But that's not how the AID (American Interference Department) work. It works by creating distention through out a chosen country, until unrest rears it's ugly head, thus providing the American government with the much needed reason to go in and assure that democracy prevails.
Or in other words, it provides nourishment for the Industrial Military Complex and affords it job security for the multiple minions of it's ranks.
Mr. P. quite effectively just blocked their move.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced it will close its offices in Russia following an order from the authorities there to cease operations.
The Russian government gave the US until 1 October to close the mission, accusing it of meddling in politics.
USAID has worked in Russia for two decades, spending nearly $3bn (£1.8bn) on aid and democratic programmes.
The expulsion follows a government crackdown on pro-democracy groups.
"The decision was taken mainly because the work of the agency's officials far from always responded to the stated goals of development and humanitarian cooperation. We are talking about attempts to influence political processes through its grants," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The Russian authorities have become increasingly suspicious of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), which it believes are using foreign funding to foment political unrest, says the BBC's Steve Rosenberg in Moscow.

Alaska and the mysterious disappearing king salmon
Why does this seem like to much of a convenient coincidence for the faster push through of genetically modified salmon
When the number of king salmon running in Crooked Creek's river declined dramatically, the mostly native Alaskan villagers were left wondering where they could find enough food to last the winter.
Crooked Creek has no big-box grocery stores or roads to other towns. But in good times, the Kuskokwim River promises king salmon to the villages along its 702 miles (1,130km).
But good times are fading into memory for villagers like Evelyn Thomas, who has lived in Crooked Creek her entire life.
"In my language, fish is called 'the food'," says Thomas, a half Yupik, half Athabascan native Alaskan who says she has little money to buy food to replace the salmon.
"When we don't get 'the food', a staple of our diet is missing."
Over the past five years, Alaska's king salmon have begun to disappear from the state's rivers, and no-one is sure why.
